The Bureau of Meteorology are Australia's weather, climate, water, oceans and space weather agency. Our work touches the lives of all Australians every day. Our products and services include observations, forecasts, warnings, analysis and advice. They cover Australia's atmosphere, water, oceans and space environments.

Australia is regularly affected by severe weather events. These events are growing in frequency and severity, leading to increased economic impact, vulnerability and potential magnitude of harm. To address this, the Bureau of Meteorology is undertaking significant steps to deliver a more customer focussed, integrated and resilient national operation within the Community Services Group (CSG)

CSG is comprised of three programs, National Production Services (NPS), Environmental Prediction Services and Decision Support Services. It delivers a 24/7 integrated capability across Melbourne and Brisbane as a nationally resilient operation. The National Production Senior Meteorologist will report into the National Production Operations Leader. This role involves shift work, and primary outputs include leading the provision of national forecasts, warnings and guidance, situational awareness and operational response products and services.

To be successful in this role, you will have a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of the evolving weather, flood, ocean and climate landscapes. You will require a thorough understanding of meteorology with a complementary foundational knowledge (or capacity to develop) in hydrology, oceanography and climatology.

In this role you will help consolidate the Bureau's NPS capability. A people centred leader, you will provide leadership and technical excellence to a team that continues to evlovle the Bureau's national forecast processes, aligning effort towards delivering maximum impact and value for all of Australia.
