About the Role

The Housekeeping Manager role is critical to the success of the business. As Housekeeping Manager, you are responsible for creating a memorable guest experience, by providing the highest level of service, cleanliness and attention to detail across the national portfolio of properties. You will deliver best-in-class standards across all aspects of the role, with a continued focus on achieving consistency, quality and high standards, in line with budget and business needs.

You are responsible for planning, leading and controlling deliverables across the national portfolio of properties, while continually monitoring standards of cleanliness, costs and training. You will deliver our service philosophy at every opportunity, when communicating with all guests, clients, agents and suppliers over the phone or by email, and actively seek opportunities to inspire guests in order to create a memorable experience, by anticipating individual needs, exceeding expectations and building relationships. You will take responsibility for a variety of operational tasks, ensuring that Urban Rest ("UR") standards are consistently delivered through training and team development within the Housekeeping department. You will thrive in a fast paced environment where attention to detail is paramount and have a strong understanding of departmental business needs while ensuring relevant state and national compliance is adhered to at all times.

Responsibilities

Daily Tasks

  • Manage the day to day activities of the housekeeping department across state, ensuring that adequate resources are available to complete associated tasks and subtasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Daily supervision, allocation and review of tasks to ensure UR standards are upheld as with guest satisfaction
  • Manage waste removal, where applicable, ensuring that UR brand values, in particular sustainability are adhered to
  • Conduct regular meetings with contractors ensuring consistency and efficiency, while building strong relationships within the core departmental function
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers and contractors
  • Manage quarterly inspections schedules across properties in all states focusing on cleanliness standards, maintenance and report defects or repairs to the associated business unit. Conduct inspections as applicable
  • Review update and monitor task lists within technology platforms, adjusting as necessary to ensure optimized performance
  • Regularly conduct 1:1s with your direct reports, coaching staff to ensure development of skills and identify improvement areas
  • Greet guests warmly and to standard for all Meet & Greets (M&G) performed
  • Respond to concerns or complaints appropriately and communicate with your Manager as appropriate
  • Fulfill all requests from guests in timely manner
  • Contribute to property security by ensuring a safe environment and reporting anything that may be a risk to the property or any persons within
  • Report anything which may result in an unsafe working environment to your manager and actively take steps to reduce immediate risks or harm
  • Ensure that the entrance and surrounding areas are kept clean and tidy at all times and well maintained
  • Maintain high standard of personal hygiene and personal presentation when on duty while ensuring that all team members also adhere to personal hygiene standards at all times

Ongoing Tasks & Projects

  • Recruit, schedule and train all housekeeping staff in accordance with UR policies and procedures, ensuring WHS, chemical and manual handling safety training is regularly reviewed with all internal/external contractor(s) team members and recorded
  • Ensure all new team members and/or contractors are inducted in accordance with UR standards and regular revisions are carried out to ensure compliance
  • Actively participate and collaborate on areas of improvement for overall departmental and business objectives
  • Manage project timelines and expectations, identify any blockers and act to escalate or resolve to meet deadlines and requirements on time
  • Periodically review stock levels, supplies and key equipment and ensure asset(s) registers are maintained and relevant partie(s) are advised to record keeping
  • Ensure equipment is of a good working condition at all times, and any relevant test and tagging requirements are adhered to
  • Complete projects as assigned by your Manager and to ensure deadlines are met
  • Develop and review key Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within your department, ensuring all team members are adequately trained and adhere to standards.
  • Participate in training and development programmes as scheduled by management, and actively implement what is trained into the working environment

Cost Control, Reporting & Forecasting

  • Proficiently manage cost control within the department, ensuring all cost areas are inline with expectations, actively seek ways to reduce expenditure where operationally viable
  • Report on increases on vendor, supplier and contractor costs and proactively engage in cost reduction or minimisation practices
  • Purchase, maintain and control costs for all supplies relating to the housekeeping department
  • Maintain a cost control system for supplies, linen and cleaning supplies ensuring adequate forecasting for linen par levels on hand where applicable
