Boarding Leadership Opportunities

Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) is looking for caring, dedicated and experienced individuals to join our Boarding House team in leadership roles. We have two exciting opportunities:
- Head of House, Stephens – One year fixed contract, senior boarding
- Assistant Head of House, Corfe – Permanent ongoing, junior boarding
These Boarding leadership positions provide a supportive and aspirational environment, in which the wellbeing and interests of each individual boy are nurtured, enabling him to develop his character, and be the best he can be. Our teachers are passionate about boys' education and providing an inspiring and broad curriculum for all boys informed by best practice and evidence. These positions would suit teaching staff from a range of teaching areas.
TGS provides highly developed residential setting where boys 'love to board' and where academic care and leadership development are core. These leadership positions would suit an applicant who is willing to immerse themselves, and their family, into the role.
About TGS
TGS was founded in 1875. It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School's campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position
TGS Boarding Staff must have the ability to provide exceptional pastoral care, excellent organisational and communication skills and show genuine interest and compassion to our Boarders.
Heads of House:
- Provide leadership and care for boys and staff in the Boarding House
- Drive wellbeing and character development initiatives
- Manage boarding facilities and staff
- Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Teaching responsibilities adjusted to accommodate boarding duties
Assistant Head of House
- Support the Head of House in day-to-day operations
- Deputise in the Head of House's absence
- Focus on pastoral care and academic monitoring of younger boarders
- Assist with staff coordination, routines, and student wellbeing
- Engage actively in house activities and events
TGS Teachers are responsible for designing and delivering innovative teaching programs aligned to the TGS teaching and learning framework, policies and practices of TGS.
Selection Criteria:
You will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:
- the care, personal growth and leadership of boys and staff in a boarding house;
- fostering quality relationships and programs within the boarding house;
- ensuring excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with student, staff and parents
- providing effective role modelling to the boys and staff.
As a Teacher you will be able to demonstrate your ability and commitment to:
- planning, implementing and evaluating educational programs that foster the social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth of students, confirming that the programs cater for the learning needs and wellbeing of all students;
- planning, designing and delivering differentiated learning programs that address variations in learning styles and ability levels;
- incorporating the appropriate use of ICT and related technologies into your teaching practice to enhance student learning in the classroom;
- delivering service excellence to parents and carers by proactively engaging with and responding promptly and courteously to enquiries and requests for information;
- ongoing development of classroom practice and a collaborative approach to teaching and learning;
- contributing to the boys' learning experience through your contribution to co-curricular programs; and
- ongoing personal and professional development.
Candidates must also be registered, or eligible for registration, as teachers in Queensland and be willing to participate in the co-curricular programme and pastoral life of the School.
