Our Company

New Metal Surfaces is a locally owned company based in Kewdale.

Operating since 1994, we are a leading provider of thermal spray coatings in Australia. Our specialty is in the application of thermal spray coating solutions to increase the lifetime, and resistance for components from a range of different industries. We have extensive experience repairing components for the mining, oil and gas, and heavy engineering industries.

The Role

We are currently seeking trade-qualified manual machinists to work in our machine workshop. The ideal candidate must be able to operate manual lathes, milling machines, vertical borers, horizontal borers and general workshop hand tools.

Additionally, you will be required to maintain safe work practices and a safe work environment.

Skills and experience

  • Australian recognised Trade Certificate in First Class Machining or Fitting and Turning

  • A commitment to safety with the ability to work unsupervised

  • Experience using any of the following machines: Vertical Borer, Horizontal Borer, Milling Machine, and Lathes

  • Must be able to read and interpret Engineering and Machining Drawings.

  • Accurately read and work with both metric and imperial measurements.
  • General maintenance and cleanliness of machines and work area.
  • Current driver's license and reliable transport.
  • Be able to pass a medical including Drug & Alcohol

Other relevant Qualifications or Experience that would be beneficial are:

  • Forklift License
  • Dogging Licence
