Primary objective

Deliver high quality, culturally appropriate and effective Occupational Therapy services within NT Health as part of the Allied Health New

Graduate Program.

Context statement

Currently seeking applicants with less than 12 months experience in Occupational Therapy as part of the Allied Health New Graduate

Program. The program provides the applicant with a comprehensive orientation, supervision, support, education, and clinical experience

plan. Applicants will develop key skill and competencies across rotations in community based allied health service with adults and gain

experience with a wide a range of clinical presentations. This position will require the applicant to work within an extended hours service

mode.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Provide timely, clinically and culturally appropriate Occupational Therapy services under supervision within a

  1. multidisciplinary framework.
  2. Participate in professional development and research activities under guidance.
  3. Provide clinical supervision and/or support to students and relevant staff as appropriate.
  4. Manage a caseload within a dynamic and evolving work environment to ensure timelines and health outcomes are met.
  5. Participate in continuous quality improvement and service development activities at a local level to ensure delivery of contemporary

Occupational Therapy services

7. Ensure clinical and corporate records are maintained, including accurate documentation and statistics

8. Contribute to the achievement of work unit goals and key performance indicators

9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

10. Foster a positive workplace culture through professional work practices and role modelling behaviour in accordance with NT Health

values.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Relevant qualifications in Occupational Therapy that meets membership eligibility requirements of the Occupational Therapy Board

of Australia.

  1. Ability to develop clinical Occupational Therapy skills providing a clinical service to patients and families/carers
  2. Awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and an ability to interact effectively with patients and families/carers of diverse

cultural and social backgrounds.

4. Developed communication, interpersonal skills, conflict management skills, with experience working in a team environment to achieve

positive health outcomes.

5. Ability to efficiently and effectively manage a patient caseload and a demonstrated commitment to professional development.

6. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement strategies.
