THE OPPORTUNITY

PYBAR Mining Services is seeking an experienced and high-performing Safety and Return to work Coordinator to provide strategic injury management for all PYBAR projects and locations to support injured employees, in conjunction with providing thorough administrative support to the HSET (Health, Safety, Environment and Training) Department.

This role is a 5/2 roster and can be based in either our Orange, NSW head office or our office in South Bank, QLD with opportunities for interstate travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lodging all workers compensation claims in compliance with relevant state workers compensation legislation and best practice standards including compliance with PYBAR's Injury Management Plan and Procedures.
  • Engaging in early contact with the injured employee, the Site Safety and Training Coordinator/Project Manager/Project Foreman, and medical provider/s to ensure early assessment and intervention.
  • Providing regular ongoing contact, support and assistance to the injured employee until they have recovered from their injury.
  • Providing the Payroll department with wage/salary information for all employees on workers compensation claims.
  • Developing efficient and responsive return to work plans for injured employees, with the assistance of Site Safety and Training Coordinators.
  • Reviewing all workers compensation medical certificates received and assess for suitability, accuracy and file in the appropriate location.
  • Communicating and building relationships with the injured employees' medical team, such as GP's, specialist's, allied health professionals, rehabilitation providers and insurance companies to assist with the return to work process.
  • Maintaining compliance with workers compensation claims, including receiving timely updated medical certificates, submitting wage reimbursements and preparing return to work plans.
  • Providing injury statistics and information, as requested by management for reporting.
  • Coordinating the return to work process for non work related injuries and illnesses, including maintaining regular contact with the injured employee and keeping their workplace up to date with return to work timeframes. It may also include arranging further assessment of the employee by a physiotherapist, GP or specialist to determine fitness for work.
  • Providing strong administrative and data entry support to the HSET department, including maintaining PYBAR's training, incident and reporting systems such as INX, Power BI reporting and LAAMP.

ABOUT YOU

You will bring:

  • Experience in Safety and Return to work, ideally within mining, construction, heavy industrial, or other high-volume environments.
  • Return to Work Coordinator Qualification
  • Demonstrated experience working in a similar role.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage shifting priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • High-level communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience in INX, INX, Power BI and LAAMP preferable.
  • Current First Aid Certificate and Mental Health First Aid Certificate are desirable but not essential.
