About the role

Four Hundred Mexican Bar & Kitchen are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead their talented team in North Sydney, NSW. This is a full-time opportunity for an ambitious chef to take charge of the kitchen and implement their creative vision for authentic Mexican cuisine.

What you'll be doing

  1. Oversee all kitchen operations, including menu planning, function menu execution, food preparation, and quality control
  2. Develop and refine innovative Mexican-inspired dishes using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients
  3. Manage and mentor a passionate team
  4. Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations
  5. Control food and labour costs to maintain profitability
  6. Collaborate with the front-of-house team to deliver an exceptional dining experience

What we're looking for

  1. Minimum 1-2 years' experience as a Head Chef or equivalent culinary leadership role
  2. Strong background in Mexican or Latin American cuisine
  3. Excellent food preparation and presentation skills
  4. Ability to execute multiple food services at the same time eg. A la carte & Functions during peak service periods
  5. Ability to effectively manage a kitchen team and drive performance
  6. In-depth knowledge of food safety and kitchen operations
  7. Current food safety certifications are required
  8. Creative flair and a passion for developing innovative menu items
  9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
