The Opportunity

We have an opportunity for two Drought Support Officers to join the Major Programs and Regions Division at the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

These roles will support the PIRSA Drought Support Team in assisting South Australian primary producers to manage the complex challenges of drought. Based within the Emergency Management, Drought and Resilience Branch, you will contribute to the development and delivery of strategic initiatives that strengthen the resilience of agricultural businesses and regional communities across all phases of the drought cycle, preparedness, response, and recovery.

By fostering collaboration across government, industry, and community stakeholders, these roles ensure drought support measures are responsive, effective, and aligned with PIRSA's broader strategic priorities, including building resilience and enhancing preparedness for adverse events. These positions play a critical role in enabling PIRSA to deliver impactful programs that support the sustainability and wellbeing of South Australia's primary industries during periods of climatic stress.

Special Conditions

  • Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an offer of employment.
  • Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
  • Multiple positions available, full time 37.5 hours per week.
  • Opportunities up to 2 years, with potential to be extended.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current driver's license and willingness to drive.
  • Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
  • You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligations and our expectations when applying for a role.
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

Remuneration

ASO5 - $85,790 min - $95,413 max per annum, plus superannuation
