Senior Accountant – Manufacturing

Location: Derrimut,Melbourne ,VIC

Work Mode: Hybrid (2 days WFH)

Type: Full-time

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in managing financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, product costing, and driving process improvements within our manufacturing operations. You will be instrumental in supporting daily accounting functions, month-end close, and providing accurate financial insights to guide factory decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.

Month-End & Year-End Close

  • Lead and coordinate closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.

General Ledger Management

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
  • Review complex balance sheet and P&L reconciliations; investigate discrepancies.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Support the development of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
  • Collaborate with department heads to monitor budget performance.

Tax Compliance

  • Assist with corporate tax calculations and liaise with external tax advisors.

Audit & External Reporting

  • Coordinate year-end audit activities and prepare supporting documentation.

Fixed Assets

  • Manage the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.

Process Improvement

  • Evaluate and enhance accounting processes and internal controls.

ERP & Systems

  • Use accounting software (e.g., MYOB, SAP, Xero) for financial data processing and analysis.
  • Support system upgrades and implementations.

Cash Flow

  • Monitor and forecast cash flow; prepare regular reports for management.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with internal teams (purchasing, production, warehouse) and external stakeholders to ensure alignment.

Team Support

  • Mentor junior finance staff and review their work to support development.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA or CA qualified (or currently pursuing)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MYOB, Xero, or ERP systems
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Mandarian speaking preferred
