Senior Project Manager

Perth, WA (Hybrid)

6-month contract (with potential 6-month extension)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Project Manager / Program Manager to lead critical ICT planning and advisory initiatives within a government organisation. This role offers the chance to shape strategic programs that deliver real impact across the public sector.

About the Role

You will be responsible for end-to-end program and project delivery, from initial planning and initiation through to execution, governance, compliance, and post-implementation review. Working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, you'll drive the successful delivery of secure and compliant ICT outcomes in a complex environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Initiation

  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Establish governance structures and identify key stakeholders.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Maintain a risk register and proactively manage security-related risks.
  • Escalate and resolve project issues impacting security, compliance, or timelines.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise risk management frameworks.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a bridge between technical teams, business units, and executives.
  • Lead regular status updates, steering committees, and briefings.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost control.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources including vendors and consultants.

Compliance & Security Oversight

  • Ensure adherence to internal security policies and regulatory frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).
  • Collaborate with IT Security, Risk, and Audit teams to validate controls.

Change Management

  • Develop and execute change management plans to support adoption of new tools and processes.
  • Coordinate training, documentation, and communication strategies.

Quality Assurance & Testing

  • Oversee testing of security controls, systems, and processes.
  • Ensure vulnerabilities are identified and remediated prior to go-live.
