Your Time to Shine

In this role, the Animal Attendant provides operational support to the educational programs within the - Veterinary and Applied Science Centre Business Unit. It involves ensuring the husbandry and management of animal species (domestic, pocket pets, fauna, and livestock) by assisting in daily maintenance and welfare programs such as cleaning, feeding, observation, exercise, and enrichment. The shifts in this role are based on a weekend and public holiday roster with some occasional weekday opportunities.

The role may also entail assisting (on a weekday shift) with the Practical Animal Care program by allocating tasks/duties and supervising students with reference to appropriate animal husbandry as per Veterinary and Applied Science Centre protocols.

What You'll Bring

• Demonstrated ability to maintain animal facilities and apply large and small animal husbandry practice to a variety of animal species.
• Ability to supervise and direct small groups and organise information, equipment and learning materials with an animal facility focus.
• Must be physically able to perform the manual handling tasks required of this position
• Understand and follow workplace safety initiatives, identify hazards, and contribute to a safe working environment specific to an animal husbandry facility.

What You Need to Know

A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the South Australian Department of Human Services is required before employment.
