
School Support Officer

A temporary part-time position commencing 27 January 2026 until 17 December 2026.
This position exists to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching within a Catholic school context and will require working collaboratively with teachers to support a class of students who meet the criteria for a Multicategorical setting. The successful applicant will be involved in working with individual students, groups of students or a whole class and fulfilling related administration duties.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- Experience working with students with disability such as students on the autism spectrum, students with intellectual disability and students who display difficult behaviours.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely and deal sensitively, effectively and positively with students and parents/carers.
- A professional approach to working in a team.
- Ability to assist in the implementation of Personalised Plans for students.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- An ability to work under limited direction.
DESIRABLE SELECTION CRITERIA
- Qualifications related to Special Needs Students and/or Certificate III In Education Support (Teachers Aide Special) or equivalent;
- Good understanding of mathematics and numeracy.
- Information technology skills including knowledge of assistive technologies for students with disabilities.
- Word processing skills with proficiency in MS Office applications, and Google Docs.
- Toileting, washing and dressing of students with a disability, if required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Certificate III in Classroom Support or equivalent qualifications or an understanding and ability to work with students with a range of diverse needs (including students with a mild‐moderate intellectual disability, and/or Autism, and/or other disability, that require intensive specialised interventions).
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE
This role is classified as a child-related work and therefore a working with children clearance is required prior to your commencement with us.
