Strategically located in Caboolture, Queensland, our abattoir benefits from the dual advantages of proximity to both light industry and fertile farming land. This prime location supports our extensive operations and export capabilities.
Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art butcher equipment, ensuring efficiency and precision in processing. We can handle up to 52,000 cattle and over 5,000 horses or similar-sized livestock annually. Our modern setup includes large stock dressing floors, offal rooms, carcass chillers, fully equipped boning and packing rooms, carton plate freezers, freezer storage, and load-out facilities.
About the role:
We're seeking an experienced Supply & Distribution Manager to lead our team and own end-to-end supply chain operations, spanning procurement, inventory, warehousing, and distribution, to ensure seamless purchasing, storage, and delivery that align with our organisation's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Strategic planning: Develop and implement distribution strategies; create and oversee purchasing and storage policies to optimise operations, reduce costs, and support organisational goals.
Inventory management: Plan and maintain optimal stock levels at minimal cost, ensuring availability and continuity of supply.
Supplier negotiation: Negotiate contracts to meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements while building strong, long-term supplier relationships.
Export strategy & compliance: Create and govern distribution and export policies to streamline operations and ensure compliance with international trade regulations.
Systems & tracking: Operate and maintain recording systems to track movements of supplies and finished goods, enabling timely re-ordering and re-stocking and accurate reporting.
Stakeholder engagement: Consult with senior leaders, review recommendations and reports, and maintain effective communication across internal and external stakeholders.
Skills and Experiences
Education background: Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant discipline preferred; relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
Proven experience: Demonstrated success managing end-to-end supply chain operations, covering purchasing, inventory, warehousing, and logistics to deliver organisational goals.
Industry expertise: Over five years as a Supply & Distribution Manager within the food processing and trade sector is preferred.
Trading acumen: Strong track record in international trade, including export/import operations and navigating global markets and regulations.
Operational knowledge: Expertise in inventory and logistics management systems; familiar with large-scale storage, inventory control, and transportation logistics to drive efficiency.
Communication & negotiation: Excellent English; multilingual capability preferred. Able to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
