The Queensland Police Service are seeking a RTI officer to join their team and play a pivotal role in contributing to the agency's legislative obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009.

You will undertake the role of decision maker under the Right to Information Act 2009 and assist in the determination of Right to Information applications. Responsibilities include ensuring legislative requirements are met, continuous improvement of Right to Information processes and the development and delivery of appropriate training for staff.

Your Key Accountabilities
The core capability requirements for this role are:

  • Process complex Right to Information and Information Privacy Act applications.
  • Research complex legal and policy issues associated with the Right to Information Act and the Information Privacy Act, impacting upon the operations of the Queensland Police Service.
  • Provide timely high level advice to senior management concerning access and amendment to documents, the application of the exemption provisions and public interest factors.
  • Negotiate and consult with clients, agents and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct third party consultations and consultations on behalf of other Queensland Government agencies.
  • Respond to requests for documents and submissions from the Office of the Information Commissioner, in relation to applications for external review.
  • Contribute to the development of policy, practice and procedures for the release of information.
