Automation Engineer – Griffith, NSW
Permanent | Full-time | Project-based
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to be the first hire in Australia for a well-established international systems integration business. With strong support from technical teams in New Zealand, this role will play a key part in delivering automation and control solutions for major FMCG, manufacturing, dairy, and utilities projects across the region.
About the role
This is a project-driven role where you will work closely with clients on the design, implementation, and commissioning of control system solutions. As the company's first engineer on the ground in Australia, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact, while being backed by an experienced and highly regarded engineering team offshore.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver automation and control system solutions across FMCG, dairy, manufacturing, and utilities sectors.
- Work on full project lifecycle from design through to commissioning and client handover.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through professional and responsive service delivery.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers in New Zealand to ensure seamless project execution.
- Provide on-site technical support, troubleshooting, and integration services.
Skills & experience
- Degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent trade background with relevant experience.
- Strong PLC programming experience (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, Beckhoff).
- HMI/SCADA development (Ignition, Citect, FTView, System Platform, InTouch, iFix).
- Experience in project-based environments, ideally FMCG, manufacturing, dairy, or utilities.
- Knowledge of robotics, vision systems, and/or RTUs (Kingfisher, SCADAPack, Siemens) an advantage.
- Excellent client-facing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and solve problems effectively.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while connected to a broader support team.
- Flexibility to travel for project and site-based work.
