About Co-Hive
Co-Hive is an innovative disability organisation, located in Alexandria, Sydney, for young adults with low support needs (ages 17–35). Co-Hive has created tailored learning programs to support participants to identify their strengths and explore different career and education pathways, grow their independence and self advocacy, and build a strong sense of belonging and community.
About the Animal Care Pathways Program
One of our most successful and exciting programs is Animal Care Pathways. This is a one-of-a-kind, 20-week program (two days per week on Thursday & Friday) designed for participants with a passion for animals who want to explore career pathways, gain confidence, and build the foundational knowledge required for further study or work. It is not a TAFE qualification, but a unique stepping stone that opens doors. The program was created to remove barriers for young adults with disability who aspire to work or study in the animal care industry but struggle with confidence, networks, or experience.
The impact so far has been remarkable:
- Participants have progressed to Certificate II and III in Animal Care.
- Others have secured work experience placements in the industry.
- Co-Hive has built strong relationships with animal care providers, making the sector more inclusive and accessible.
About the Facilitator Role
As the Facilitator, you will:
- Educate up to 10 participants, with Program Assistants supporting you to ensure every participant receives the guidance they need.
- Take responsibility for lesson preparation and delivery, using our existing framework while bringing your knowledge and experience to adapt and improve the program.
- Provide a balance of theory and practical experiences that engage participants with diverse learning needs.
- Connect participants to industry networks, further study, and work experience opportunities.
This is a chance to join Co-Hive at a time of growth, with the expansion of our hubs and the continued success of Animal Care Pathways. You will play a vital role in setting a new standard for post-school accessibility in the animal care industry, helping participants with disability take meaningful steps toward their goals.
Commitment: 3 days per week (program delivery is two days per week).
