THE ROLE
We are seeking a Fluid Dynamics Engineer to join our Melbourne team. This is a unique opportunity to tackle diverse and challenging projects - combining advanced CFD with hands-on experimental testing and real-world measurements. You'll be at the forefront of solving complex fluid dynamics problems and driving real performance improvements.
In this role, you'll contribute to R&D, breakthrough innovations, and high-impact client projects, working alongside a team of engineers with experience ranging from Formula 1 to advanced industrial sectors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Lead Development Engineer, the Fluid Dynamics Engineer is a role that requires a motivated early-career engineer who is eager to apply their knowledge and applied experience to provide clients with insight and performance improvements as well as development of internal projects.
The Fluid Dynamics Engineer will:
- Conduct CFD simulations for a range of consultancy projects, with a focus on product development and optimisation of fluid dynamic performance.
- Report on findings to clients and other stakeholders through presentations, meetings and technical reports.
- Contribute to maintenance and development of Python-based codebase.
- Contribute to internal best practices and workflow methodologies to improve accuracy, reduce errors and enhance knowledge transfer.
- Contribute to internal R&D efforts and stay up to date with the state of the art in aerodynamic development techniques, CFD methodologies, visualisations and their application to L2T's projects.
- From time to time oversee or conduct experimental testing.
REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical or similar
- Experience: 2+ years' relevant industry experience or fluid dynamics-based post-graduate studies
- Strong understanding and passion for fluid dynamics
- Experience with CFD (e.g. Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or similar)
- Experience in 3D modelling with CAD systems (e.g. Siemens NX, SolidWorks, Rhino or similar)
- Experience with programming, preferably Python
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Right to work full-time in Australia
- Preferable:
Experience with Linux-based HPC systems
Understanding of wind tunnel testing and/or real-world measurements
