The Opportunity
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Weather of the 21st Century is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Software Engineer to join our interdisciplinary team dedicated to advancing climate science. This pivotal role focuses on the development and coupling of high-resolution regional ocean-atmosphere models, contributing to our mission of enhancing our understanding of how the weather will change as the climate warms.
Key Responsibilities- Model Development & Integration: Lead the development and testing of a high-resolution regional ocean model to enable coupling to the atmosphere
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance in the design, testing, and maintenance of model improvements, ensuring robustness and scalability
- Collaboration: Work closely with a distributed team of research software engineers and scientists across the Centre's universities and partners to deliver well-engineered applications that meet business objectives and satisfy stakeholder needs
- Best Practices Implementation: Contribute to the strengthening of capability and embedding of best practice software development within the Centre by influencing approaches and work practices
You will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment at the forefront of climate science research. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking work in climate modeling, influencing both scientific understanding and policy decisions.
