The Opportunity:

We're seeking a compassionate and experienced counsellor to deliver our Healing Inside program; an evidence-informed, trauma-responsive initiative supporting incarcerated women affected by Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV). This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a prison environment, providing therapeutic support, group education, and safety planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling and group sessions
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records
  • Collaborate with correctional staff and community stakeholders
  • Promote cultural safety, especially for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women
  • Contribute to program evaluation and continuous improvement

What You'll Bring:

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling or related field
  • Experience supporting women affected by DFSV
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practice
  • Ability to work respectfully within justice and correctional settings
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering group programs in custodial environments
  • Knowledge of post-release referral pathways
  • Experience in program evaluation or data collection
  • Requirements:
  • NT Working with Children Check (Ochre Card)
  • National Criminal History Check
  • NT Driver's License
  • Commitment to Safeguarding Children policies
