We are a busy, family-run 23-room motel looking for a dependable, hardworking housekeeping and all-round assistant. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong initiative, and takes pride in doing a job well without constant supervision.

About the Role

This is primarily a housekeeping position, with opportunities to expand into other areas of the business for the right person. Duties include:

Housekeeping & Cleaning

  • Cleaning and servicing guest rooms to a high standard
  • Changing linen and restocking amenities
  • Vacuuming, mopping, and general cleaning tasks
  • Cleaning reception/common areas
  • Sweeping verandahs and outdoor walkways
  • Restocking & cleaning trolleys

Grounds & General Duties

  • Cleaning the pool (training provided)
  • Picking up palm leaves and light garden maintenance
  • Watering gardens, weed control
  • Assisting with odd jobs around the motel as needed
  • Unpacking linen & stock, tidying store rooms.
  • Maintaining high cleanliness standards across the property

Additional Opportunities (for the right candidate)

  • Occasionally preparing simple breakfasts for room service
  • Learning basic reception duties (phones, emails, check-ins)
  • Future caretaker-style overnight weekends, once fully trained and trusted

Essential Requirements (Please Read Before Applying)

1. Reliability

  • Must show up on time, every shift
  • Must not cancel last-minute unless genuinely unavoidable
  • Must be able to work independently without constant direction

2. Physical Capability

This is an active, hands-on role. You must be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 12kg
  • Stand, walk and bend for extended periods
  • Perform both indoor and outdoor duties

3. Hours & Availability

  • Weekend availability is essential
  • Casual role based on occupancy ("no guests, no work")
  • More work available from November–March; quieter months mid-year
  • Usually 2 days a week to start, increasing during peak season

4. Initiative & Work Ethic

You must be comfortable:

  • Working solo on some days
  • Filling quiet times with cleaning/grounds tasks
  • Taking ownership of your workload
  • Keeping yourself busy without being reminded

If you prefer constant direction, repetition, or sitting still - this role is not suitable.

  • Flexible – hours depend on occupancy (busy Nov–March, quieter in winter)

Experience in housekeeping, cleaning, hospitality or customer service is preferred but not essential for the right attitude.
