The Berry Street School is a specialist independent secondary school with campuses in Ballarat, Morwell, Narre Warren, and Shepparton. We work with students who have experienced complex trauma and are at risk of disengaging from education.

About The Role
The
Wellbeing Leader
is a senior member of our schoolwide team and plays a critical role in leading and implementing student wellbeing programs at the Shepparton Campus.

  • $104K + Super + Salary Packaging
  • Full-time, Ongoing Position
  • Based at our Shepparton Campus
  • Some travel required across Berry Street School campuses

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Oversee the Student Wellbeing Program at the Shepparton Campus.
  • Champion child safety and diversity across the school community.
  • Play a key role in the implementation of the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM).
  • Liaise with students, families/carers and care teams to support attendance and engagement.
  • Support staff capability in wellbeing practices, including trauma-informed and restorative approaches.
  • Lead the development and documentation of adjustments for students included in the NCCD.
  • Monitor and promote student wellbeing, engagement and school participation.
  • Support enrolments, transitions, Care Teams and Student Support Groups (SSGs).
  • Contribute to the implementation of the school's Strategic and Annual Implementation Plans.

Essential
About You

  • Demonstrated experience in student wellbeing leadership within an education or welfare context.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, BSEM and student engagement strategies.
  • Capacity to lead wellbeing initiatives across a school community.
  • Strong interpersonal, coaching and mentoring abilities.
  • High-level organisational and administrative skills.
  • Commitment to child safety, diversity and inclusion.
  • A Bachelor's degree qualification in Education, Social Work, Youth Work, or Welfare is highly desirable; however, a Diploma level qualification with 5 + years experience in the field will be considered.

Desirable

  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Work or Welfare.
  • Training and experience in restorative practices with young people.
  • Experience developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Focus Plans and wellbeing strategies.
