Disability support worker

As a disability support worker at Hope Help and Care, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with disabilities to live independently and engage with their local community.
This role will primarily involve working with participants located in Southern Adelaide (Seaford and surrounding suburbs). One of the participants is a young person with high physical support needs, including personal care and toileting. You may also be rostered with other participants who have different support requirements, so flexibility and availability for a fixed roster (minimum 2 months) is essential.
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to work with young person clients requiring high physical support needs.
This is a casual position providing flexible work opportunities to suit your lifestyle.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), Disability or higher.
- Must be available to work passive night shifts.
- A minimum of 3-6 months experience in a relevant role is required.
- Relevant role experience includes either disability support or aged care positions.
- Must have current driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Valid and current National Police Check, Working with Children Check (WWCC), Medication administration certificate and current First Aid/CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check & completed Orientation Module.
- Must have valid Australian work rights including citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work visa.
What you'll be doing
- Assisting clients with personal care, including bathing, toileting, dressing, and grooming
- Supporting clients to participate in social, recreational, and educational activities
- Developing and implementing individualised support plans to meet clients' unique needs and goals
- Advocating for clients' rights and ensuring their wellbeing and safety
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to client care
- Collaborating with other members of the care team to provide holistic support

- Relevant experience in the aged care or disability support sector, or a demonstrated passion for supporting individuals with special needs
- Confidence in providing care for children or young people with high physical support needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and their families
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address the diverse needs of clients
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with a commitment to promoting the independence and dignity of individuals with disabilities
