Opportunity to lead and nurture a small team of three accountants within an established real estate fund, fostering collaboration and professional growth. The successful candidate will work at a leading financial services organisation with over $12 billion in assets under management, offering stability, flexibility, and ongoing training opportunities.
What You'll Do
As Senior Fund Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the success of an established real estate fund by providing expert oversight across all aspects of fund reporting. Your day-to-day responsibilities will see you guiding a small but dedicated team through complex financial statement preparation, tax distribution calculations, and investor reporting. By partnering with colleagues across investments and other departments, you will ensure that all outputs are delivered with accuracy and clarity. Your ability to foster collaboration within your team will be essential as you work together towards shared goals. In addition to managing core accounting functions, you will also have the opportunity to contribute ideas for process improvements that drive operational excellence. This is a rewarding position for someone who enjoys both hands-on technical work and supporting others' professional growth.
- Oversee and guide a team of three Fund Accountants, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently while nurturing their professional development.
- Take responsibility for end-to-end fund reporting processes including preparation of financial statements that meet regulatory standards and internal requirements.
- Manage tax distribution calculations with precision, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and timely delivery to stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive investor reports that clearly communicate fund performance and key metrics in an accessible manner.
- Collaborate closely with the investments team to provide accurate financial insights that support strategic decision-making across the business.
- Ensure all fund accounting activities adhere to best practice standards as well as company policies and procedures.
- Support audit processes by preparing required documentation and responding promptly to queries from auditors or regulators.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within fund accounting operations, contributing ideas that enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments, particularly those affecting real estate funds, sharing insights with your team as appropriate.
What You Bring
To excel as Senior Fund Accounting Manager, you will bring extensive experience gained from working in fund reporting roles - ideally within smaller organisations where adaptability and teamwork are valued. Your CA or CPA qualification underpins your technical expertise while your background in real estate funds equips you with valuable sector insight. You thrive when collaborating with others, whether guiding junior colleagues or partnering with investment professionals on complex projects. Your approach is thorough yet flexible; you consistently deliver high-quality outputs even when juggling competing demands. A genuine interest in supporting others' growth sets you apart as someone who contributes positively not just through technical skill but also through interpersonal connection. Your understanding of current industry trends ensures that your advice remains relevant and impactful.
- CA or CPA qualification is essential, demonstrating your strong technical foundation in accounting principles relevant to funds management.
- A minimum of seven years' experience in fund reporting roles within either a boutique fund manager or fund administrator environment is required.
- Experience working specifically with real estate funds is highly desirable as it will enable you to quickly understand sector-specific nuances.
- Previous exposure to team leadership or mentoring is advantageous but not mandatory; willingness to support others' development is key.
- Proven ability to manage end-to-end financial statement preparation processes with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines.
- Demonstrated skill in tax distribution calculations for managed investment schemes or similar structures.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to prepare clear investor reports and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong organisational abilities allowing you to balance multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations impacting fund accounting within Australia's financial services sector.
