Accountant & Financial Analyst

Overview: We are seeking a full-time Accountant & Financial Analyst to join our HQ office in Surry Hills. This role plays a significant role in managing our financial health and fostering strategic growth to ensure the continued success and expansion of our brand.

Reporting Structure: CEO.

Team Management: Not applicable.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the creation and implementation of budgets across all departments.
• Conduct profit and loss (P&L) analysis to determine financial performance and areas for improvement.
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets.
• Analyse variances between actual and budgeted results and provide explanations for discrepancies.
• Develop financial forecasts and models to predict future financial trends.
• Provide cash flow projections to ensure the company maintains adequate liquidity.
• Prepare comprehensive financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Present financial reports to investors, directors, and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
• Prepare and submit Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other statutory financial reports.
• Conduct detailed financial analysis to support business decisions and strategies.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to improve business performance.
• Investigate financial anomalies and suggest corrective actions.
• Prepare and review taxation reports to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
• Advise management on taxation matters and strategies to minimise tax liabilities.
• Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings.
• Oversee cash control procedures to ensure the integrity of financial transactions.
• Manage accounts receivable and payable to maintain optimal cash flow.
• Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions in the accounting system (Xero).
• Coordinate with external auditors during the audit process and provide necessary documentation and explanations.
• Develop and enforce internal control procedures to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
• Train staff on internal control practices and compliance requirements.
• Identify and assess financial risks facing the company and develop strategies to mitigate them.
• Liaise with financial institutions to support banking and financing needs.
• Communicate financial insights and recommendations effectively to non-financial stakeholders.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate,

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial and accounting roles.
• Experience in franchising or similar business environments is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal teams and external partners.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly responsible.
• Ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
