About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the senior leadership team at BHP Olympic Dam where you will provide foundational leadership and oversight of the Surface Maintenance Services department working across the fixed plant processing, smelting and refinery operations.

This role leads the maintenance service and support functions including reliability, major maintenance and projects, contracts, shutdown coordination, and water operations, enabling sustained high performance and continuous improvement, and works alongside the Maintenance Manager Execution.

This role is based at our Olympic Dam site and can be offered as FIFO ex-Adelaide or Residential, living in Roxby Downs township.

In this role you will:

• Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible and engaging safety leader, ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment (HSE) responsibility in all that you do
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships within the Maintenance function, site-based teams, asset teams and functional partners to meet operational goals
• Positively shape culture in alignment with the BHP Values
• Lead a diverse team of technical and operational maintenance professionals to deliver HSE, cost and volume performance as per our business plan commitments
• Identify, build and develop team capability through ongoing and regular coaching and development
• Encourage and promote continuous improvement in our work practices, driving performance using the BHP Operating System

About You

Your demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams in a complex operational environment will contribute to your success in this role.

Excellent communication and influencing skills will enable you to quickly establish effective and collaborative relationships while your focus on safety leadership, continuous improvement, inclusion, and risk management will ensure the existing culture of safety excellence and optimal operational delivery is maintained.

In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

• A background in Fixed Plant Asset maintenance and management within a similar operational environment
• An engineering and/or trade qualifications within a relevant engineering or maintenance discipline
• Foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery
• Experience implementing continuous improvement strategies with financial and commercial acumen
• The ability to engage and find positive outcomes with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience and knowledge working across a broad range of disciplines including HSE, Commercial, Contract Management, Project Management and Operations
