Primary objective
Work as part of the Children and Schooling Program (CASP) team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery in
accordance with the Operation Framework and Children and Schooling Education Engagement and Attainment Initiatives
to plan and facilitate communication and collaboration between all key stakeholders.
Context statement
Wugularr community is located in the Katherine Region, about 110km from Katherine itself. Wugularr School
accommodates Pre-school to Secondary School. The main languages spoken are Kriol and English.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. The position is responsible for working collaboratively with the school to address attendance and well-being issues of
students.
2. Liaise with teachers and assistant teachers to identify students at risk through poor attendance.
3. Conduct home visits and liaise with families regarding student attendance and wellbeing.
4. Implement an Attendance Activity Plan together with the rest of the team.
5. Plan and lead the activities in accordance with the Operational Framework and agreed Attendance Activity Plan.
6. Provide information and reporting in accordance with the School Attendance Strategy.
7. Collaborate with Elders, Traditional Owners and influential members and other stakeholders to improve rates of school
attendance.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Experience and demonstrated understanding of cultural and cross cultural, social and community issues affecting
Indigenous communities.
2. Demonstrated ability to develop rapport and respect with students and families of remote Indigenous communities.
3. Proven capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
5. Working knowledge of computer applications including MS word as well as the ability to learn new systems.
6. Hold a current Northern Territory Driver's Licence and current Ochre Card.
Desirable
1. Light Rigid (LR) Northern Territory Licence.
