Mining Superintendent

CORONADO GLOBAL RESOURCES is a leading international producer of high-quality Metallurgical Coal. Our global operations are located in two of the world's largest and most productive metallurgical coal basins, the Bowen Basin in Queensland and the Central Appalachian region of the US. 

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mining Superintendent to join our Curragh South Mining team. Reporting to the Manager Mining, this leadership role will be responsible for driving the safe and efficient delivery of coal production, holding contractors to account, and ensuring compliance across mining operations.

About the Role

Working an 8/6 Roster,  you will lead a high-performing team and oversee the safe execution of mining activities across Curragh South. You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring delivery of coal into the ROM at or below budget, while optimising efficiency and maintaining quality standards.

You'll also be responsible for managing major contracting partners, ensuring accountability for outcomes, and contributing to mine planning and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and mentor a team including Open Cut Examiners to ensure safe operations.
• Oversee contractor performance, holding partners accountable for contractual deliverables.
• Ensure safe and timely execution of Drill and Blast activities at Curragh South.
• Optimise mine efficiency through effective haulage management and operational compliance.
• Drive improvements in safety performance, culture, and critical risk management.
•  Ensure compliance with SHMS, EMS, S55 Management Structure, and operating schedules.
• Build strong working relationships with stakeholders across site and the wider business.
• Champion continuous improvement and foster a culture of collaboration and respect.

You are a results-driven leader with strong mining operations expertise and the ability to balance safety, production, and cost efficiency. You thrive on building relationships, managing contractors, and delivering operational excellence.

Key Experience & Qualifications

• Extensive mining experience, with exposure to open cut operations.
• Demonstrated capability managing contractors and operational budgets.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor teams in a high-performance environment.
• Mining Engineering qualification or equivalent (desirable).
• OCE Certificate of Competency or SSE qualification (desirable).
