Down Under Tours operates an extensive day tours to popular destinations such as Kuranda, Cape Tribulation and Daintree. We also provide a highly professional and diverse coach charter service including group touring and private charters.

The Opportunity

This role plays a vital link within both our Reservations and Operations & Logistics Teams. As a Reservations and Operations Consultant, you will work across departments and ensure every day that all Reservations and Coach and Driver movements, including morning dispatch of all coaches, are coordinated efficiently. Working as a team, this is a collaborative role that requires outstanding communication, including a brilliant telephone manner.

This position includes weekend work. Below is the breakdown of the hourly pay rates:

  • Monday to Friday:
    $31.79 per hour
  • Saturday:
    $36.33 per hour
  • Sunday:
    $43.15 per hour

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Entering email bookings
  • Answering phone calls, including enquiries, confirmations, and new bookings
  • Complete scheduling for vehicles and drivers with efficiency and accuracy
  • Prepare and distribute paperwork and instructions for all Driver Guides, and maintain communication throughout the day via phone and radio
  • Coordinate the operations of the day, whilst using monitoring tools to ensure time deadlines are met, and organising alternative resources in circumstances like traffic delays
  • Complete daily checklists and meeting checkpoint times throughout the shift
  • Check & update daily schedules for Driver Guides, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driver preferences are accommodated

About you

  • Previous experience in transport logistics and/or the tourism industry is essential
  • Display a high level of planning and organisational skills and can demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Can think on the spot and problem-solve
  • Enjoy working in a team environment with the ability to prioritise workloads
  • Excellent written and brilliant verbal communication skills, with the ability to think sequentially and logically
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite of programs, and experienced at learning new systems quickly
