About the Role:
Engagement type: Fulltime, permanent
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 (negotiated based on demonstrated experience and qualification)
Location: Grafton NSW, In-office
This role is ideally suited to you, if you are passionate about building relationships, with both existing and emerging clients, delivering practical advice, and supporting regional businesses across diverse industries. In your new role as Senior Accountant, you will manage a portfolio of both small and medium sized clients, mentor junior staff, and work closely with business owners, proving compliance and advisory services that make a genuine difference.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review financial statements, income tax returns, and BAS/IAS for a diverse client base (companies, trusts, partnerships, individuals, SMSFs).
- Support clients with business structuring, cash flow forecasting, tax planning, CGT, Division 7A, and succession planning.
- Build strong relationships by becoming embedded in clients' businesses and understanding their unique needs.
- Supervise, guide, and review the work of junior team members.
- Keep up to date with tax legislation and compliance developments, especially those impacting SMEs and rural enterprises.
- Use Xero, MYOB, and other cloud-based tools to deliver efficient and responsive service.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Chartered or Certified Public Accountant qualification (or, currently working toward)
- Demonstrated experience working in a public practice, with exposure to SME clients preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation
- Excellent client-relationship and customer service skills, with a genuine interest and passion to provide solutions-driven outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in Xero, MYOB and the Microsoft Office suite, with experience using Access and/or HandiSoft, highly desirable
- 2x work-related references
