Murwillumbah East Public School (MEPS) has a student enrolment of 152 students, with 16% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. The school is on the land of the Moorang Moobar people of the Ngandowal lands and Bundjalung Nation, approximately 30kms from Tweed Heads.
In 2025, MEPS have 11 classes, including 3 Multi-Categorical Support Class. As a key priority, we have a large, proactive, and supportive learning and wellbeing team that supports students and families with academic, behavioural, social, and emotional needs.

Selection Criteria- Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated experience teaching students with complex needs including Autism, Physical Disability, nuero-diverse, moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, significant behavioural and/or emotional needs across a multi-stage setting.
- Demonstrate ability to differentiate the curriculum in a multi-stage classroom and develop Personalised Learning Plans in partnership with parents/carers to maximise student growth, promote high expectations and ensure engagement for all students with a disability.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills that contribute to a culture of inclusivity through proactive collaboration with students, colleagues, parents/carers, school learning support officers, external agencies and the wider school community.
- Proven ability to implement wellbeing initiatives that maintain and enhance a positive, supportive and inclusive culturally safe classroom culture which supports the diverse needs of individual students from a variety of backgrounds.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
