About This Job
Position Information
Toongabbie West Public School is proudly located on Darug land in Western Sydney, within the Girraween network. We currently have 268 students enrolled, including seven Support Classes: three Hearing Support, three newly established Autism classes, and one Autism/IO class. Over 70% of students identify having language backgrounds other than English. Additionally, 5% of our students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.
Our school fosters a strong, research-informed and data-driven culture with a clear focus on teaching, learning, wellbeing, and community engagement. Evidence-based practices are embedded to achieve our School Excellence Plan. We prioritise high expectations, expert curriculum knowledge, quality teaching practices and the tracking of student growth. Student performance data guides our decision-making, ensuring targeted support and ongoing progress in literacy, numeracy, wellbeing and attendance.
Student wellbeing is the core of everything we do, ensuring every child is known, valued, and cared for through proactive and inclusive support, and strong community connections.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with additional learning needs including autism, intellectual disabilities and behavioural difficulties with proven abilities to implement strategies to meet their communication, sensory, social and challenging behavioural needs.
- Proven ability to initiate and deliver differentiated learning experiences to students with complex learning needs, with a strong emphasis on improving literacy and numeracy outcomes through the use of individualised learning programs aligned with the Disability Standards for Education
- Evidence of outstanding flexible classroom management skills that demonstrates the implementation of whole school wellbeing programs focused on improving student engagement, creating a positive learning environment and promoting inclusive practices in all school settings.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute to the whole school culture and work collaboratively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies and members of the wider community.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
