Working Hours

Monday - Friday 38hr week

Monday -Thursday Start 6:30AM : Finish 3PM

Friday- Start 6:30AM : Finish 1PM

We stay on QLD time year round.

Job Overview

Our long term vacuum forming machine operator is retiring.

We are seeking a skilled Vacuum Forming Machine Operator to join our team in Tweed Heads. In this role, you will set up and operate advanced automated vacuum forming machines, contributing to the production of precision plastic parts. The ideal candidate is detail- technically proficient, and committed to upholding Modplas' high standards of quality and safety. Modplas is a company that specialises on smaller production runs of hundreds of different products, meaning we rarely make the same thing two days in a row keeping things fresh and exciting. This is also a clean job where you do not get dirty throughout shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor large-format vacuum forming machines to produce parts to exact specifications.

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.

• Conduct quality inspections on tooling and finished products before, during and after production runs to ensure compliance with customer requirements.

• Troubleshoot minor machine issues and report complex problems to supervisors.

• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized workspace.

• Collaborate with our design and production teams, to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

• Document production data accurately for traceability and process optimization and stock taking.

Qualifications

We do not require any specific qualifications. However, any within in the following would be highly regarded.

• Any technical training in manufacturing- plastics, or a related field is preferred.

• Experience operating vacuum forming machines or similar equipment in a manufacturing environment.

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings or blueprints.

• Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precise components.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced setting.

• Fork Lift Licence

• Basic computer skills for logging production data.

• Physical fit and have the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to Weight, e.g., 20KG.

• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software, precision trimming, or pattern-making processes is a plus but not necessary at all.
