Malnutrition beyond cancer treatment: identifying risk factors to inform personalised nutrition (PhD scholarship). This PhD project will seek to identify risk factors contributing to malnutrition after the completion of cancer treatment to inform personalised nutrition strategies.

About this project and scholarship

The candidate will collect and analyse clinical, demographic, diet and lifestyle data to identify modifiable predictors and stratify patients by malnutrition risk, supporting the development of targeted, personalised nutrition strategies to improve outcomes for people in the post-treatment survivorship phase.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Doctor Megan Crichton and Distinguished Professor Patsy Yates and be based in the Cancer and Palliative Care Outcomes Centre. The candidate will have the opportunity to engage in a dynamic environment with members of the Centre for Healthcare Transformation's research centres and groups.

Eligibility

  • You need to meet the entry requirements for a QUT Doctor of Philosophy including any English language requirements.
  • Enrol as a full-time, internal student (unless approval for part-time and/or external study is obtained).
  • You must commence your degree by 1 July 2026.
  • Experience in identifying and critically appraising health and medical literature.
  • Experience in research participant liaison and working knowledge of human research ethics.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated ability to work in teams.
  • Evidence of project management proficiency.
  • Intrinsic motivation to solve problems and achieve short- and long-term goals.
  • A degree in dietetics and/or nutrition is preferable.
