The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment (DLPE) was established with a clear vision that the Northern Territory's natural assets are managed sustainably for the benefit of all. The Department leads a strategic land resource assessment program that underpins land use planning, economic development, improved land management and conservation initiatives.

As the Remote Sensing Analyst your primary objective is to support the compliance and enforcement functions of the Development Coordination Branch relating to land clearing on unzoned land under the Planning Act 1999 across the Territory and support the robust and credible compliance program.

Your key duties and responsibilities involve undertaking analysis of remotely sensed data to identify changes in land clearing and land cover change; and assist in the development and implementation of the compliance program; support field based UAV image capture programs; and undertake site inspections across the Territory.

To be successful you require a degree in remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Environmental Science or related field. Obtained knowledge in applying remote sensing methodologies and the use of GIS software to detect vegetation change and/or land cover change.  The ability prepare and analyse quality technical reports, read plans and interpret land information.  Project management skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines. Developed good communication and negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective networks is essential.
