Coal River Coaches fleet now consists of vehicles and touring coaches ranging from 8 to 57 seats with mostly top of the range Mercedes-Benz buses and coaches. Most of our buses and coaches have a 4G radio system intsalled for driver safety and communication. It employs 45+ local staff, comprising strong, capable, and experienced drivers, hostesses, reservations team, workshop mechanics, and operations command.

• We are seeking experienced and reliable Touring Coach Drivers or Vehicle drivers to join our team and provide exceptional service on guided tours across Tasmania. You'll be responsible for driving tourists to popular destinations, ensuring safety, comfort, and an enjoyable experience throughout the journey.

• We are also looking for school bus drivers in the areas we have listed above for our school run operations. These school runs can be both casual 10+ hours per week or full time 30+ hours per week.

We have a centralised Hobart depot from which we operate our range of businesses. The depot is fully equipped with an on-site office, bathrooms, workshop, and cleaning services, as well as cooking or food options. We also have onsite parking that is a free use for our staff members.

We are members of Business Events Tasmania, Destinations Southern Tasmania, and the Australian Tourism Export Council.

Qualifications & experience

• Public Vehicle Passenger license required (we can assist you to acquire this)
• Medium Rigid License required (we can assist you to acquire this). This is so you can drive a large bus (57 seats).
• Working with Vulnerable People Card (we can assist you to acquire this)
• Current National Police check (we can assist you to acquire this)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Experience driving buses, coaches or large vehicles like trucks
• Knowledge of Tasmanian tourist sites is a plus
• Previous tour guiding jobs or knowledge is a plus
• Candidates must be Australian citizens or be residents of Australia

Tasks & responsibilities

• School Bus Runs—Extra large bus—57 Seats. School bus runs operate Monday through Friday, both morning and afternoon.
• Outside of the bus, school runs in the morning & afternoon; schools now like to get out around Tasmania. These day excursions might be for a camp, learning class or swimming carnival. So, the school runs are just the start of the day for people interested in our school run position.
• Weekend Charter & Optional Extras. With a wide range of smaller vehicles seats, to 57 seaters, we offer a wide range of transport options, such as airport transfers, wedding transport, multi-day tours, conference late-night transfers, and more. All of this work is available to the right candidate on a casual or fulltime basis.
• Day-to-day cleaning and maintenance. We have a fully equipped depot with cleaning facilities and a mechanic. Each bus driver is expected to keep their vehicle in a clean state; however, our professional team at the depot does the washing and upkeep of the bus.
• With a wide range of holiday transport for some of the biggest travel companies in Tasmania and further afield, there are options for the right candidate to see Tasmania on multi-day holidays across days.
