Job Title: ACSS Support Worker (Full-Time)
Location: Dubbo, NSW
Organisation: Orana Support Service
About Us
Orana Support Service supports children, young people, and families experiencing—or at risk of—homelessness and domestic & family violence (DFV). Our Accompanied Children Support Service (ACSS) provides child-centred, trauma-informed support to children impacted by DFV and homelessness, working closely with caregivers, schools, health providers, and community partners.
About the Role
We're seeking a compassionate, hands-on ACSS Support Worker to deliver practical and therapeutic support for children engaged with ACSS. This is a full-time role (38 hours per week). You'll help children build safety, routine, and resilience through structured activities, school and community engagement, and by supporting case plans developed with ACSS practitioners.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan and facilitate child-centred activities that build safety, social skills, and emotional regulation.
· Provide social, physical, and emotional support to children and young people.
· Apply trauma-informed, strengths-based practices in all interactions.
· Implement case plans by coordinating transport to appointments, liaising with schools, and supporting daily routines.
· Monitor progress against each child's case plan goals and provide feedback to practitioners.
· Collaborate with ACSS specialist workers, the Women's Refuge, and external partners (schools, health providers, DCJ, NGOs).
· Maintain professional boundaries, child safeguarding, and mandatory reporting obligations.
· Uphold a culturally safe environment for Aboriginal children, families, and communities.
About You
- Experience working with children and young people 0-17 in community, education, disability, youth work, or family services.
- Understanding of trauma, grief & loss, and DFV impacts on children and caregiving systems.
- Clear, compassionate communicator; able to build rapport and model positive behaviour.
- Strong organization and documentation skills; reliable and proactive.
- Current NSW Working With Children Check and Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current NSW Driver Licence and confidence transporting children.
- First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Desirable: Cert III/IV or Diploma in Community Services/Youth Work/Education Support; familiarity with MRG/mandatory reporting, behaviour support, and activity-based/therapeutic programs.
Hours & Pay
- Full-time (38 hrs/week).
- $30–$33 per hour plus superannuation.
- Travel during shifts reimbursed as per policy.
What We Offer
- Supportive, values-driven team with on-the-job coaching and training.
- Diverse work across programs and community partnerships.
- Real impact improving safety, stability, and wellbeing for children.
