About the Business

Our Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships team coordinates activities that aim to improve outcomes for Aboriginal clients, their families and communities. This includes informing DHS policy and practice, supporting staff who are Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal working in Aboriginal-focused programs, and providing direct supports to Aboriginal young people and their families in partnership with community.

Role Details

The Operations Lead, MAYFS is a role within Community and Aboriginal Partnerships and is accountable to the Manager, MAYFS for:

  • Providing leadership, direct line management and support to operational staff to facilitate the provision of culturally appropriate early intervention and strength-based programs to Aboriginal children and young people who are at risk of offending, have offended/or at risk of further offending.
  • Overseeing programs, projects and providing high level policy, program and case management advice around appropriate diversion strategies to divert Aboriginal children and young people away from the criminal justice system.
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships across the Aboriginal Practice and Partnerships Directorate and the Youth Justice and Exceptional Needs Directorate to streamline service delivery and achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people, their families and communities.
