Our hands-on, person-centred programs build real-world skills for employment, further study and independent life. We bridge the post-school gap with practical learning, strong relationships and an innovative approach that blends technology and creativity - helping participants grow in confidence, skills, independence and belonging.

We're preparing for expansion in 2026 and are seeking a People & Culture leader who understands the agility of a small business and can build like a big one.
*About The Role*
This is a senior leadership role for someone who wants to make a big impact and help shape Co-Hive's people, culture and systems as we grow.
Right now, People & Culture responsibilities are shared across different team members. This new role brings everything together under one strong, experienced leader. You will be the central person for all staffing, culture, HR systems, compliance, recruitment, Employment Hero and payroll.
You will be the glue that keeps staff aligned, connected and supported across every department. You will work closely with the CEO, General Manager, Finance and Operations teams to ensure Co-Hive remains people-focused, mission-driven, compliant and ready for expansion.
You will also oversee the development of staff wellbeing initiatives and meaningful recognition programs that are values-aligned and sustainable as we grow.
As Co-Hive expands, it is essential that staff stay deeply connected to our mission, values and participant outcomes. A key part of this role is ensuring that our growing team remains united, consistent and purposeful.
This Role Suits Someone Who:
- Is highly experienced, steady and proactive
- Has exceptional organisation and attention to detail
- Embraces innovation, technology and creative solutions
- Is confident managing performance conversations
- Understands (or is willing to quickly upskill in) the disability sector
- Values purpose, people and impact
- Can step into other duties when needed — part of working in a small, fast-growing organisation
Your leadership will directly influence the quality of our staff — and in turn, the lives and futures of our participants.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Strategic Leadership, Culture & Impact
You Will:
- Lead and strengthen a workplace culture grounded in psychological safety, inclusion, wellbeing and high performance.
- Develop and deliver Co-Hive's People & Culture strategy aligned with our mission, values and future expansion.
- Ensure staff remain connected to Co-Hive's mission and values as the organisation grows.
- Lead organisation-wide wellbeing and staff recognition initiatives that are meaningful, sustainable and values-aligned.
- End-to-End People Lifecycle, Recruitment & Growth
You Will:
- Lead recruitment from start to finish, ensuring we attract highly capable, values-driven staff.
- Design and oversee onboarding, induction and probation programs that establish strong foundations.
- Embed performance and career development frameworks across all roles.
Manage performance concerns and difficult conversations with professionalism, clarity and strong leadership.
- Employment Hero & HR Technology Leadership
You Will:
- Oversee ongoing implementation and optimisation of Employment Hero as Co-Hive's central HRIS.
- Train managers and staff to confidently use EH for recruitment, onboarding, performance and compliance.
- Use EH data and reporting for forecasting, planning and decision-making.
Build scalable HR systems and processes that support future hubs and services.
- Policies, Compliance, Payroll & PBI (Foundation)
You Will:
- Develop, update and embed all HR-related policies, procedures and compliance frameworks.
- Stay across SCHADS, Fair Work and government workforce requirements, ensuring Co-Hive is always compliant.
- Work closely with Finance and Operations on payroll accuracy, leave processes and compliance reporting.
- Lead the HR transition and payroll shift to the Co-Hive Not-for-Profit Foundation (PBI) and communicate salary-packaging benefits clearly to staff.
*About You – Skills & Experience*
You are an experienced People & Culture leader who brings a balance of strategy, confidence, clarity and heart.
You Will Have:
- Minimum 9 years' experience in senior People & Culture / HR leadership roles
- Strong, practical experience using Employment Hero
- End-to-end recruitment and staff lifecycle experience
- Deep understanding of Fair Work, WHS and ideally SCHADS & NDIS requirements
- Exceptional organisation, time management and attention to detail
- Strong experience in performance management and difficult conversations
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly
