Main duties and responsibilities
The responsibilities of a support worker vary depending on the needs of the individual client. We are currently advertising for staff with experience in personal care and manual handling.
Responsibilities on a typical day may include, but are not limited too:
Assisting with domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, washing, and shopping.
Assisting with personal care tasks including hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, assistance with eating, manual handling, bowel care, medication management etc.
Assisting with life skills development including budgeting/money handling, travel training, communication etc
Assisting with accessing the community for social events, attending appointments
Supporting clients in a group setting (centre and community based)
Participating in ongoing professional training and development
Providing safe and best practice support to clients
Following legislative guidelines such as shift notes, mandatory reporting etc
Have a passion for caring for and supporting your local community and beyond.

Purpose of role

Other duties
Fulfill other duties as required by management and other department personnel as requested/required.
Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience in disability services or relevant practical experience (e.g. manual handling, community support, transport, transferable skills, etc).
Knowledge
Basic knowledge of confidentiality laws, NDIS, NSDS, restrictive practices, anti-discrimination laws, behavior support plans, and mandatory reporting. Basic understanding of support needs for people with a variety of different care requirements.

Communication: The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication styles depending upon the audience.
Attention to detail: excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally.

Time management/organization: accomplish objectives effectively within the time frame given, and carry out administrative duties within the portfolio in an efficient and timely manner.
