Job Description:

We are looking for a highly motivated and solution-oriented student to join our team as an Engineering Support Intern. This is a fantastic opportunity for an aspiring professional to gain hands-on experience and contribute meaningfully to the final stages of our product development before commercial launch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the engineering team with hands-on prototyping, testing, and assembly of new components.
  • Build and test functional cable assemblies (e.g., loom preparation, crimping, soldering) and cabinet assemblies according to specifications.
  • Perform design verification and validation testing by following established test protocols, executing the required tests, and accurately documenting and reporting the outcomes for engineer review
  • Assisting and providing support for post manufacturing factory acceptance testing.
  • Create or modify engineering drawings for cable assemblies and electrical cabinet layouts using relevant software (e.g., MS Visio).
  • Travel to product trial sites within Victoria to assist with commissioning, field testing, and ongoing operational activities.
  • Interpret and analyse test data using statistical methods to identify trends, diagnose performance issues, and determine root causes.
  • Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets in MS Excel for tracking project metrics, inventory, and cost analysis.
  • Present clear, data-driven conclusions and recommend design or process improvements to senior engineers

Qualifications & Attributes:

  • Currently enrolled in the final or second-to-last year of a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Engineering.
  • Preferred majors include Mechatronics or Electronics Engineering; Mechanical Engineering students will also be considered.
  • Strong academic standing required. An academic transcript may be required
  • Crucial hands-on skills and proven practical experience (e.g., lab work, personal projects, or previous internships) in basic electrical and mechanical assembly.
  • Proficiency in the MS Office Suite, especially MS Visio and Excel, for technical documentation and complex data handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret technical data, perform root cause analysis, and draw clear conclusions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Must have appropriate working rights in Australia.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and edge computing is advantageous.
