Australia Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) Full time $104,000 - $130,878 per year

About the ANF

The Australian Nursing Federation, Industrial Union of Workers Perth (ANF) represents more than 43,000 nurses, midwives, and carers across Western Australia. We are dedicated to protecting and advancing their professional, industrial, and workplace rights, while promoting fairness, equality, and the highest standards of practice.

About the Role

We are seeking Industrial & Employee Relations Advisors to join our Industrial Team.

In this role, you will play a key part in supporting members with workplace, industrial and employment issues. The work is varied and rewarding – from providing advice and guidance, to assisting in negotiations, to representing members in workplace meetings where required. You will also contribute to the union's broader industrial strategy in achieving outcomes for the nursing and midwifery professions.

This process will be used to fill current vacancies and may also be used to create a pool of suitable applicants for future roles (permanent or fixed-term, full-time or part-time) over the next 12 months.

The current vacancies are permanent, with full-time hours available. Flexible part-time arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.

What you'll do

  • Respond to member enquiries and provide clear, accurate advice on rights and entitlements under legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts.
  • Assist with enterprise bargaining, including research, drafting and supporting negotiations.
  • Support members in workplace issues such as investigations, disputes and grievances – and provide representation in meetings where required.
  • Manage case work efficiently, balancing deadlines and priorities.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to deliver outcomes for members.

What we're looking for

You'll be a strong fit for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Law, Human Resources, Industrial/Employment Relations, or a related discipline – or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills in interpreting legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, workplace policies and contracts, and applying them in practice.
  • The ability to communicate complex information in a clear and supportive way.
  • Negotiation, conflict resolution, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail.
  • A strong commitment to union values of fairness, solidarity and collective strength which informs everything we do.

Employment requirements

To be successful, you must be able to:

  • Obtain and maintain a National Police Clearance.
  • Obtain and maintain both State and Federal Right of Entry permits (support will be provided).
  • Hold a valid Australian Driver's Licence.
  • Hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or a visa that allows ongoing work in Australia.

What we offer

The ANF is committed to providing a supportive, flexible and rewarding workplace. Benefits include:

  • A competitive remuneration package aligned with experience and qualifications.
  • 15.5% superannuation.
  • 15 days personal leave per year.
  • A 40-hour work week with Accrued Days Off (ADOs).
  • Free on-site parking (subject to availability).
  • On-the-job training and professional development opportunities.
  • A collaborative and values-driven team environment.
  • We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements, including hybrid work.

How to Apply

Please provide the following in Word or PDF format:

  • A current CV, including the names and contact details of at least two referees.

  • A written statement (maximum two pages) addressing the selection criteria set out in the 'What we're looking for' section of this ad.

Applications should be addressed to Lewis Price, Lead Industrial Advisor –

Standard pre-employment checks may be conducted. Referees will only be contacted with your permission.

Applications will be assessed as they are received, and we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
