We are a large and well-established custom cabinetry workshop located in Melbourne's Northern Suburbs. We are seeking a motivated and experienced CNC Router Programmer / Machinist to join our dynamic team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in commercial joinery and cabinet making who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
As a CNC Programmer / Machinist, you will:
- Set up jobs, program, and operate CNC router machines
- Design and customise components to support our wide range of cabinetry projects
- Assist with new product development and factory processes
- Carry out routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC machinery
- Ensure accuracy and quality control by interpreting drawings, using precision tools, and inspecting finished parts
- From time to time, support factory operations, assist with machinery maintenance, or other tasks as required
In addition, the successful applicant would be encouraged for their opinions on factory processes, equipment and new upgraded software. As we are currently in the process of implementing new design software that integrates seamlessly from design through to production, including shop-ready drawings and 3D renders. You'll play an active role in this rollout and have the opportunity to grow with the technology as it develops.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- CNC Router operation & programming experience
- CNC Router maintenance knowledge
- Cabinetmaking experience and/or relevant qualifications
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and specifications
- Skilled in setting up, adjusting, and monitoring CNC machines for optimal performance
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Beneficial (but not essential):
- Experience with Biesse Works
- Drafting / joinery design-detailing experience
