
Financial Analyst

- Financial Data Analysts are responsible for the design, analysis and delivery of relevant, trusted and objective statistics and data-related insights.
- They manage, coordinate and respond to the finance requests and organisational Directives at the Branch and Division level ensuring alignment between a Project Office and the wider organisational Program/Portfolio and Finance functions.
- Provide technical expertise that contribute to business unit outcomes.
- Have sound understanding of the impact of the work area on longer-term strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency/program.
- Work independently or under limited guidance nominated supervisor.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure positive customer outcomes.
- Support programs with financial management and procurement activities including resource and budget planning.
- Track financial progress of projects by conducting monthly reviews of financial expenditure, budget reporting, forecasting analysis including accrual reporting.
- Create reports, modelling, and trend forecasting including financial reporting.
- Conduct statistical and financial modelling, including project accounting & cost estimation.
- Invoice processing, purchase orders and maintaining financial journals.
- General administration and organisational tasks within Desktop Environments.
- Respond to stakeholder needs and expectations.
- Develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
- Support internal and external networks.
- Bachelor of Accounting.
- Candidates working towards their CA, CPA or equivalent, with requisite accounting experience would be highly regarded.
Essential criteria
- FMIT 5 - Financial management Provides general advice and guidance on financial planning, budgeting and accounting using recognised practices and standards. Develops high-level financial plans and forecasts to guide organisational strategies and plans. Monitors expenditure to ensure alignment with budgetary goals. Contributes to financial control frameworks and supports strategic decision-making by summarising expenditure trends and variances.
- BUDF 5 Budgeting and forecasting Leads financial analysis activities for a department or function, applying advanced techniques and tools. Develops and maintains complex financial models. Conducts scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to support decision-making. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on recommended financial analysis practices. Presents findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders, linking financial performance to business outcomes. Collaborates with stakeholders to align analysis with organisational objectives.
- FIAN 5 Financial analysis Leads financial analysis activities for a department or function, applying advanced techniques and tools. Develops and maintains complex financial models. - Cost management Develops and implements cost management processes and procedures for a department or function. Monitors actual performance against budget and identifies variances. Analyses costs, identifies trends and recommends corrective actions. Provides guidance and advice on cost management techniques and tools
- Demonstrated experience in the following – Examining records for evidence that appropriate testing and other quality control activities have taken place.
- Demonstrated experience in the following – Collecting, documenting, and classifying evidence testing and quality control activities and the conduct of formal audits or reviews of activities.
- Demonstrated experience in the following – Determining compliance with organisational directives, standards and procedures and identifies non-compliances, non-conformances and abnormal occurrences.
- Degree or other qualification in a related discipline.
