Good News Lutheran College is seeking a passionate and experienced educational leader to join our Campus Leadership Team as Head of Secondary. About the role

The Head of Secondary plays a pivotal role in leading the Secondary Years (Years 7–12), fostering a culture of high expectations, pastoral care, and Christian ethos. Reporting directly to the Campus Principal, this role oversees curriculum implementation, student wellbeing, staff development, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Christian Leadership

  • Model and promote Christian values across Secondary school.
  • Support spiritual development of students and staff

Behaviour Management

  • Lead behaviour management processes and case coordination.
  • Support staff with strategies and liaise with families as needed

Leadership & Management

  • Drive a contemporary Secondary Years philosophy.
  • Manage staffing, budgets, and facilities in collaboration with leaders.
  • Mentor staff and foster professional growth.

Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

  • Design and implement tailored pastoral care programs.
  • Oversee student orientation, enrolment, and leadership development.
  • Support academic and personal growth.

Curriculum & Data

  • Lead VCE and MYP curriculum delivery and subject selection.
  • Use data to guide teaching and program improvements.
  • Community Engagement
  • Encourage parent involvement and maintain clear communication.
  • Coordinate parent events and progress updates.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in education (postgraduate study preferred).
  • Registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
  • Theological training or willingness to work toward accreditation in Lutheran education.
  • Proven ability to lead curriculum, wellbeing, and staff development initiatives.
