As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled Leading Hand to join our team in Cairns.

The Role

This role offers the opportunity to play a key role, in one of GNM Groups largest projects.

This is a hands-on leadership role, suited to someone who enjoys being on the tools while guiding and supporting a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the pipe laying team on site.
  • Coordinate daily tasks to meet project schedules and targets
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely and to quality standards.
  • Read and interpret plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Operate machinery and tools relevant to pipe laying (where licensed/required).
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor materials, plant, and equipment to avoid downtime.

About You

  • Construction White Card.
  • Demonstrated experience in civil construction, with a focus on pipe laying
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening.
