Turn back time with tales and tunes, help capture a life story worth sharing
We're looking for a compassionate volunteer to visit a remarkable woman over 6 to 8 weeks and help document her life story. Originally from Sri Lanka, she's a proud mother of three with a rich and fascinating history. She has lived in Germany, worked as a travel consultant, and holds a deep interest in faith, politics, and culture. She also has a soft spot for rock and pop music
Your visits will help transform her memories into a treasured keepsake for her and her family – a gift that lasts a lifetime.
Ideally, you'll have the following skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word
words per minute typing skills
Ability to work independently and problem solve
Own car to drive to the home of the Client
Willingness to learn new technology and software. You will be using a Dictaphone and a transcription software program
Availability for a long term commitment and up-to 5 hours per week.
The transcription and editing process can occur in the evenings, while the face-to-face interview will occur on a weekday (Monday-Friday between 9am-4pm) for one hour.
When you submit your enquiry, please include details on why you're interested in volunteering.
Impact
Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help older people feel less isolated. Your visits will bring great joy to the client you are matched with.
