Job Description

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Group FInancial Accounting Staff Team. This role focuses on staff costs accounting. The successful candidate will contribute to the centralisation and standardisation of accounting into and within Group Financial Accounting. The candidate will also have a mindset of continuous improvement of our processes.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join Nine's newly formed Group Financial Accounting team, contributing to the financial accuracy across our diverse business.

Day to day you will:

  • Oversee the General Ledger to ensure financial transactions align with Australian Accounting Standards (AAS).
  • Support the month-end closing process by processing journal entries, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations including payroll clearing accounts for superannuation, payroll tax and workers compensation, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Support the payroll accounting reconciliation process, specifically working with the Payroll team
  • Assist in preparing accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis of performance, comparing actual results to budgets/forecasts, and explaining variances.
  • Identify areas and implement a mindset of continuous process improvements in accounting systems and reporting
Qualifications

What you'll bring:

  • Previous experience in financial accounting and an understanding of payroll processes
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Microsoft D365).
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
