About Optimal

Optimal is a comprehensive user insight platform empowering product teams and UX researchers to make confident, data-driven decisions.

We provide a powerful suite that transforms complex human behaviors into actionable insights. Our platform helps our customers understand how people interact with their digital experiences, revealing the "why" behind user behaviors so they can build products that truly connect with their audience.

We work with industry leaders like Lego, Nike, Netflix and Apple, to bridge the gap between user expectations and product reality.

The role

At Optimal, we build powerful UX research tools that help teams make data-driven decisions. Trusted by the world's biggest brands, we're passionate about user experience and we're looking for a dynamic Community and Events Manager to help us grow and engage with our vibrant community.

You'll develop and execute our community engagement strategy across digital and in-person channels. You'll also own our social media presence and create memorable events and webinars that bring customers together.

We're looking for someone who is a natural connector - who's equally comfortable managing a LinkedIn content calendar, coordinating event logistics, and building genuine relationships with customers. You're both a strategic thinker and hands-on executor, someone who juggles multiple projects while maintaining high standards for quality and engagement.

What you'll do

Social Media Management:

  • Own and manage Optimal's social media presence across LinkedIn, X (Twitter), Facebook, and Medium
  • Develop platform-specific content strategies that drive engagement and build community
  • Create and manage a content calendar that balances promotional, educational, and community-focused content
  • Write compelling copy for social posts and campaigns across multiple formats (short-form, long-form, video, static)
  • Monitor social conversations, engage with our audience, and identify opportunities for brand participation
  • Track social media metrics and optimize strategy based on performance data

Community Building and Engagement

  • Plan, execute and manage all of our community initiatives across all channels, digital and in-person
  • Develop engagement strategies that encourage participation, knowledge sharing, and peer-to-peer connection across our community
  • Create and facilitate ongoing conversations, discussions, and initiatives that add value to community members
  • Identify and nurture community champions and advocates
  • Develop and execute a user-generated content strategy that showcases customer success and expertise
  • Gather customer feedback and insights to inform product and marketing strategies

Events and Webinars

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute in-person community events including customer meetups, networking sessions, leadership circles and user conferences
  • Manage end-to-end webinar production from concept development and speaker coordination through to promotion and delivery
  • Source and liaise with speakers, panelists, and guest contributors
  • Manage event sponsorship opportunities including vendor relationships and deliverables
  • Coordinate event logistics, budgets, and timelines
  • Drive event registration and attendance through targeted campaigns

Content Creation

  • Write compelling copy for community communications, event promotions, webinar descriptions, and social content
  • Brief and collaborate with in-house design team to develop digital and creative assets
  • Manage the production of video content, graphics, and other multimedia assets
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand guidelines and speaks effectively to our target audience

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years in a community management, social media, or events role
  • Proven track record managing social media channels with demonstrated success growing engagement and community
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing in-person events from conception to completion
  • Experience managing event sponsorships including vendor coordination and deliverable fulfillment
  • End-to-end webinar management experience including content planning, speaker coordination, technical production, and promotion
  • Proficiency with marketing automation platforms, particularly HubSpot
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Self-sufficient and proactive work style with ability to work independently
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities

What's in it for you:

  • Competitive salary (we offer a salary that reflects your experience and the value you'll bring to our team)
  • Annual wellbeing allowance and support
  • Annual learning and development support
  • Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP) to help you benefit from the long-term success of the company
  • Home office set-up support
  • Enhanced parental leave for primary and secondary caregivers
  • 4 weeks annual leave plus an additional day off on your birthday
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Flexible work options (our HQ is based in Wellington, NZ, but this role can be based anywhere in New Zealand or Australia)
