We're seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator (MSSQL Server) to join our dynamic operations team based in Sydney supporting key banking applications. If you're passionate about database performance, thrive under pressure, and want to make a real impact—this is your opportunity.

What You'll Do


• Provide 24x7 production support for highly critical banking systems


• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server environments (2016–2022)


• Design and implement robust backup and disaster recovery strategies using Commvault and native SQL tools


• Monitor and tune database performance, optimize queries, and resolve deadlocks


• Manage high availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups and clustering


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot incidents and meet strict SLAs


• Lead database migrations, server upgrades, and architecture recommendations


• Develop and maintain SQL Server Agent jobs and maintenance plans


• Author and modify SSRS reports and support big data ETL pipelines


• Document DBA processes and train operations staff


• Participate in BCP exercises and on-call rotations

What You Bring


• Proven expertise in SQL Server administration (2016–2022)


• Strong T-SQL programming and query tuning skills


• Experience with SSIS,SSRS, SSAS


• Knowledge of PowerShell and Unix shell scripting


• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS EC2/RDS, Azure SQL)


• Solid understanding of data security, encryption (TDE), and compliance practices


• Ability to manage performance, availability, and security of enterprise-grade databases


• A proactive mindset with a passion for learning and continuous improvement

Bonus Skills


• Experience with database policies and documentation


• Exposure to Windows administration and system upgrades


• Ability to advise on database architecture and best practices
