East Perth, Western Australia Public Transport Authority Full time $120,000 - $150,000 per year

About the role

Join the Future of Rail Engineering with Public Transport Authority (PTA) High Capacity Signalling (HCS) project. Be part of a transformative infrastructure initiative that's reshaping Western Australia's public transport network. This dynamic engineering role offers the opportunity to provide assurance, support, and technical leadership in the design, delivery, and integration of critical assets into operational service. You'll play a key role in ensuring all track and civil works meet PTA's stringent compliance, safety, and reliability standards—working closely with internal teams and HCS Alliance Partners to deliver innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate with existing infrastructure.

You will guide small to medium projects, conduct technical assessments, and contribute to the development of codes, standards, and best practices. Your expertise will support everything from underground cable routes and civil engineering assurance to drainage systems and access ways. With a strong focus on stakeholder collaboration, operational continuity, and safety culture, you'll help shape the future of rail engineering—ensuring every asset is ready for handover and built to last.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Qualifications and technical expertise: Relevant engineering degree or equivalent for Engineers Australia admission; proven civil/track engineering experience across planning, design and delivery of rail projects; ability to develop and interpret construction standards for civil and rail assets.
  • Rail operations and safety: Demonstrated experience managing interfaces between civil works and operational rail systems; experienced in applying safety management systems and Rail Safety Legislation; skilled in asset management frameworks and contributing to asset strategy.
  • Leadership and stakeholder engagement: Strong leadership and people-management skills with a track record of guiding teams to deliver outcomes; excellent interpersonal, negotiation and facilitation skills; proven ability to build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Analysis, communication and delivery: Well-developed conceptual, analytical and organisational skills; ability to analyse complex technical and operational problems, produce concise technical reports, and meet targets and timelines through effective teamwork and delegation.
